Memento of Westminster Abbey Dedication Service
A souvenir booklet of the Marlowe Memorial Dedication Ceremony in Westminster Abbey on 11 July 2002 is now available.
This attractive booklet will appeal to all who admire Marlowe, and comprises sixteen A5 pages, plus cover, including 10 colour photos.
There are colour photographs of the memorial "lozenge", the memorial window, and some of the people prominent in the Dedication Service, including Professor Christopher Miles, Sir Antony Sher, Greg Doran, Dr Colin Niven, Mark Rylance, Julian Slade, and the Master of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
The text includes a brief account of Marlowe's life and work, of the Marlowe Society's Poets' Corner campaign, and of the Dedication Service, with additional paragraphs about Poets' Corner, and the Marlowe marigold symbol. On other pages are the lines from Marlowe's translation of Ovid's Elegies that were read at the Service, some lines from Tamburlaine, and the names of some of the distinguished supporters of the campaign for Poets' Corner recognition.
Whether you were there or not, this is a unique memento of a unique occasion for all admirers of Christopher Marlowe.
